«Smart Camera Traps» and women in the IT industry: Samsung IT School released a new podcast

Samsung IT School is continuing a series of video podcasts. This month’s episode features graduates of the Samsung IT Academy, from the Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg, Elena Gabdorakhmanova, Valeria Mukhametdinova and Inna Anikina. Their teacher, Alexandra Dunaeva, also joins them. Last year, these young women became the winners of the interuniversity contest for student projects, with their project «Smart Camera Traps».

Host of the podcast, Tatiana Volkova, the curator of Samsung IT Academy’s educational track on the «Internet of Things,» discussed the most interesting and exciting aspects of project development with the guests. They talked about their experiences and how they came to be involved in different fields, such as artificial intelligence and mobile development. They also discussed the modern ideas about women in IT, their hobbies and desires for further implementation.

The podcast has been released since March 2022, among the previous topics are «How to choose the best IT course for a student» and «How to become a developer in a top IT company while studying at a university» and others.

Samsung IT School and Samsung IT Academy are both part of Samsung Innovation Campus Global Initiative, which is currently being implemented in 36 different countries worldwide.

Samsung IT Academy has been in operation since 2017, providing a long-term, free, social and educational initiative from Samsung Electronics for training future specialists in some of the most actual fields of IT: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Mobile Development, and Big Data. The IT Academy’s training tracks, developed by Samsung experts, focus on the development of practical skills that are in high demand during project activities. At the end of each academic year, students who have successfully completed the program independently develop individual projects, and if they complete the program successfully, they receive a certificate from Samsung. Samsung IT Academy received the «Best Social Projects in Russia» award. Additionally, the Samsung Innovation Campus won the Runet Prize, the most prestigious prize in the Russian Internet sector in the «Education and Staffing» category.

Samsung IT School is a federal program of additional education designed to train future IT professionals. It is aimed at high school students interested in IT technology and who have a solid understanding of the school’s computer science and math courses. Students enrolling in the Samsung IT program must pass two stages: a preliminary online test and a face-to-face exam. As part of the program, students work on developing mobile applications using the «from idea to deployment» approach in Java programming for the Android platform. Samsung IT School began operating in Russia in 2014 and, over the past decade, has produced 5,341 successful graduates who have received their certificates from the program. Today, Samsung IT operates at 45 locations across Russia and also in Armenia.
