Samsung IT School video podcast tells about «UchimZnaem» cooperation

Samsung IT School has presented a new video podcast devoted to mobile game development for children undergoing lengthy treatment in medical institutions. Andrei Limasov is the podcast host and the curator of Samsung IT School. He discussed this topic with Anastasia and Gleb, this project alumnus of previous years and tutors, who help the children master mobile game development.

Mobile game development course takes place at «UchimZnaem» hospital schools in Moscow. Schoolchildren in grades 7-11 (13-16 years old) take part in the project. The author of the course, Oleg Shelikhov, a teacher of Samsung IT School, conducts classes with schoolchildren online. Course tutors assist the teacher in the classroom, as well as provide online consultations and work with «UchimZnaem» students offline in Moscow: in the Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology, the Children’s Clinical Hospital of the Russian National Research Medical University, and the N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center.

In the podcast, guests discussed how mobile development classes take place in the hospital school, how they differ from regular classes, and how tutors help students master new material. In addition, Sergei Sharikov, head of «UchimZnaem» talked about the peculiarities of working with children.

Samsung IT School video podcast has been released on the project’s official YouTube channel since March 2022. Topics of past editions: «How to become a developer at a top IT company while studying at university», «How to start learning Android development at school», «How a girl can enter the IT», «How to win the Grand Prix in the Samsung IT School contest», and «From student to teacher at Samsung IT School».

The innovative project of Russian hospital schools «UchimZnaem» was established in 2014 with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Today more than 40 hospital schools of «UchimZnaem» successfully operate in different regions of Russia. Every year the project educates more than 35,000 schoolchildren undergoing long-term treatment in medical hospitals, with which more than 5 000 specially trained teachers work.

Samsung IT School is a federal social and educational program to train future IT specialists, which is part of Samsung Innovation Campus global initiative. The project, which began in 2014, focuses on high school students who are passionate about programming and those who seek to gain practical skills in mobile app development. More than 1,000 high school students receive free training each year as part of the project. Graduates prepare their projects and participate in the annual federal contest of mobile applications «IT School chooses the strongest!», which was again included in the official list of Olympiads of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

Currently, Samsung IT School operates at 57 sites in 46 Russian cities. Samsung IT School is a partner of the «Mobile development» direction of the federal project «IT Cube» which organizes IT creativity centers in Russian regions for children and teenagers.

Samsung IT School was twice awarded the national Runet Prize: as a separate project in the Science and Education category in 2016 and as part of the Samsung Innovation Campus global initiative in December 2021 in the Education and Personnel category.

In the academic year 2022/2023, Samsung IT School opened several additional groups with online learning. Thanks to this, schoolchildren from regions where it is not possible to attend classes can take a training course online.
