Samsung Innovation Campus launched in Kyrgyzstan

Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) officially started in Kyrgyzstan. The opening ceremony was held at the I. Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU). The first educational track on Mobile Development for KSTU bachelors will start in February.

During the first course of SIC, students will study the Java basics, Android application development and learn modern approaches and methods of mobile development. At the end of the course, each student will create his or her own application and will be able to participate in an inter-university project competition. In the spring semester a pilot group of 25 students of the Department of Informatics and Computer Science will start the annual Samsung course, and since autumn of this year the program will be extended to the main audience of students of all areas of IT specializations at KSTU.

The training tracks developed by Samsung specialists are based on the mastering of demanded practical skills for project activities. At the end of the SIC program, students receive a certificate from Samsung. Training under the Samsung Innovation Campus program is free of charge. To successfully complete courses, students must understand computer science and have programming skills.

Samsung Innovation Campus is an international social and educational long-term program of Samsung Electronics aimed at training future IT specialists in the most demanded areas of IT: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Mobile Development, and Big Data.

The opening ceremony was attended by Sergey Pevnev, Vice President of Samsung Electronics CIS headquarters, Svetlana Yun, Head of Samsung Educational Programs, Andrey Limasov, SIC Curator of Mobile Development Programs, Mirlan Chynybaev, Rector of KSTU, Rasul Abazbek-uulu, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Lee Won-jae, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Kyrgyz Republic, and representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan Officers, Gulnara Kabaeva, Director of IT Institute, Nella Israilova, Head of Informatics and Computer Science Department and other representatives of KSTU.

Samsung Innovation Campus is aimed at young people. About 119,000 students around the world have already completed the program since 2014. Currently, Samsung Innovation Campus is being implemented in more than 30 countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Spain, Turkey and others. Gradual geographic expansion continues — the company has been working on launching the project in Kyrgyzstan since 2021.

Samsung’s long-standing work in developing and supporting educational projects such as Samsung Innovation Campus, which promote digital skills and expand the use of modern technology in education, has been recognized by international experts. In 2023, Samsung Electronics ranked seventh in the 2023 Digital Inclusion Benchmark, which evaluates companies in key categories including human rights, environmental protection, and digital inclusion.
