Samsung IT Academy Expands Data Engineer Training Course

Samsung IT Academy (a part of the Samsung Innovation Campus) with new technology partners Arenadata and VK Cloud created a unique industrial course «Big Data».  Specialists from Arenadata (a leading developer of data collection and storage platform) and VK Cloud (a cloud platform for development and work with data) took prepared the practical part of the course, which is designed to teach students the full life cycle of working with Big Data: from its collection and processing to visualization. Today, classes on the Big Data training track have been held at RTU MIREA (Moscow), SFedU (Rostov-on-Don), and KSU (Kursk).

The one-year Big Data course of the Samsung IT Academy is open to all Samsung Innovation Campus partner universities. The training is free of charge. The 126-academic-hour course is designed for bachelor or specialist students from the second year of study and above (IT training field). The comprehensive content of the e-course is divided into 9 modules and considers the acquisition, storage and analysis of Big Data, including its modeling, visualization and security. Mastering the material is supported by 125 tests and 50 practical works.

During the practical work, students are taught how to build a data pipeline using the Apache Hadoop Open Source software stack. The Russian Hadoop distribution and compute cluster management software developed by Arenadata were deployed in a cloud cluster provided by VK Cloud, which gives future IT specialists a unique opportunity to master the world’s most widespread industrial tools for working with Big Data in conditions as close as possible to industry realities. The Big Data course is the foundation for mastering the profession of a Data Engineer.

The Samsung IT Academy has been implemented since 2017 as part of the Samsung Innovation Campus global initiative, that is a long-term free social and educational project of Samsung Electronics to train future specialists in the most in-demand IT areas: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Mobile Development, and Big Data. The training tracks of the Samsung IT Academy, developed by Samsung specialists, are based on the mastering of demanded practical skills in the course of project activities. By the end of the academic year, Samsung IT Academy graduates independently developed individual projects and, in case of successful completion of the program, receive a certificate from Samsung. The Samsung IT Academy was awarded the Best Social Projects of Russia prize, and the Samsung Innovation Campus was awarded the Runet Prize (the most prestigious prize of the Russian Internet) in the Education and Human Resources nomination.
