Samsung IT School became a partner of the section at NRNU MEPhI All-Russian Contest «Junior»

Samsung IT School is a social and educational program, that became a partner of the «Development of Android mobile applications» section at «Junior». It is an All-Russian contest of schoolchildren scientific works. Samsung experts joined the jury of this contest final, which took place on February 4 at National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.

48 schoolchildren presented their projects at the «Development of Android mobile applications» section of this contest. Samsung IT School graduates are among the winners:

Denis Barilov and Viktor Kokorev (graduated IT School in the 2021 at the NRNU MEPhI lyceum, their teacher is Mikhail Portnov) with the «Team up system» application, which helps to find like-minded people when forming project teams;
Alexander Taran (graduated IT School with honors in 2021 at the MEPhI lyceum, the teacher is also Mikhail Portnov) with the «Lumet» application. It allows you to find other users in real time for a collective recreation.
Dmitry Kulakov (graduated IT School with honors in 2022 at RUDN University, the teacher is Evgeny Mityakov) was a prize-winner. He was one of the authors of the «WAY» application. It is the guide to Moscow sights.

All-Russian contest of schoolchildren scientific works «Junior» has been held since 1998. Its organizers are NRNU MEPhI, «Rosatom», the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Department of Education. The aim of the contest is to develop schoolchildren’s interest in natural sciences and to attract specialists in higher education to work with high school students. The contest is held for 9-11th grades students and consists of the specialized olympiad and defense of the scientific project on the section profile.

The contest winners will get the right to enter NRNU MEPhI without examinations, as well as privileges at admission to other universities. «Junior» is included in the list of olympiads of the Russian Council of Schoolchildren olympiads.

Samsung IT School is a federal social and educational program to train future IT specialists, which is part of the Samsung Innovation Campus global initiative. The program started in 2014 and now is focused on acquisition of theoretical and practical skills in programming by 9-11th grades students, having an inclination for algorithmic thinking stable knowledge of school computer science and mathematics and keen on IT technologies. Students in the program learn mobile app development «from idea to distribution» on Java for Android. School students chose their future profession and realize their potential in the information technology, which is a key area of Russia economic development.

Every year more than a thousand students from over 50 cities in Russia get the opportunity to improve their mobile development skills. Since 2022, Samsung IT School has opened enrollment in several additional groups with distance learning. This allowed schoolchildren in regions where it is not possible to attend classes in person to take a training course in an online format.
