Samsung IT Academy debriefs the results of the 2022-2023 academic year

Samsung IT Academy, the social and educational project, summarizes the results of the academic year 2022/2023. 648 students from 22 universities in 18 Russian cities successfully completed this academic year’s training in four educational tracks: Mobile Development, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. This is a 41.8% increase in the number of certified graduates from the previous academic year. This year, three more universities joined the project: Volga State Technological University, Siberian Federal University and Tambov State University. The new Big Data track was successfully tested in Russia: 42 students of RTU MIREA were the first to receive certificates of this program.

According to this year’s graduates of Samsung IT Academy, the work of teachers and the quality of training materials deserve the highest marks in the project (94% and 82% of respondents said so, correspondingly). The practical part of the courses and work on final projects received the most positive feedback from students.

The educational tracks were organically integrated into the main university curriculum: according to the survey results, the training helped many graduates to chose the topic of their future bachelor’s thesis. More than half of the respondents (52%) plan to choose project’s educational tracks as their future specialization in the IT industry. Studying at Samsung IT Academy helped many graduates to get a job or internship while still studying at university. In addition, 61% of students noted the value of the experience gained from real-world projects and 57% — from public presentation experience.

«Samsung pays great attention to the education of future IT specialists — it is one of the key areas of the company’s social activities around the world. For 6 years now, our educational project, Samsung IT Academy, as a part of the Samsung Innovation Campus global initiative has been rapidly developing in cooperation with leading Russian universities, strengthening the academic training programs of universities in terms of relevance and practice-oriented industrial orientation in the most advanced IT fields. This year the number of the project certified graduates for the whole time of its realization approached 2000. We congratulate everyone on the successful completion of the academic year and wish them to keep on learning,» said Sergey Pevnev, Vice President of Samsung Electronics CIS headquarters.

Samsung IT Academy annually organizes the Interuniversity Alumni Project Contest, the winners of which are selected by a jury consisting of Samsung experts and representatives of leading IT companies. In 2023, the final of the Samsung IT Academy Interuniversity Alumni Project Contest will be held in October.

Samsung IT Academy has been implemented in Russia since 2017 and as a part of Samsung Innovation Campus, a long-term free social and educational project of Samsung Electronics to train future IT specialists in the most in-demand areas of IT: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Mobile Development, and Big Data. In addition to IT Academy, the initiative is represented in Russia by the Samsung IT School. Samsung IT Academy was awarded the Best Social Projects of Russia prize, and the Samsung Innovation Campus was awarded the Runet Prize, the most prestigious prize of the Russian Internet in the Education and Human Resources category.
