Samsung IoT Academy graduates’ projects on Russian Internet Week

The students of Samsung IoT Academy from MIREA IT Institute introduced their projects on Innovation Alley during the Russian Internet Week on 21 and 22 November. All of the shown projects were evaluated during the Summer Projects Contest of Samsung IoT Academy, and received high grades from the Jury consisting of members from Moscow Samsung R&D Center, academic institutions and leading technological companies. For the exhibition, the contestants improved their prototypes and prepared to answer the questions of RIW visitors.

Dmitry Faychuk introduced the «MotoGuard» project, which will help parents to know the location and speed of bike or scooter, which belongs to their child. In dangerous situations like speed braking, crash or fall, the MotoGuard application will send a notification to the biker’s relatives. Dmitry’s project received «Absolute winner» award on Summer Contest.

The «Weather conditions and daytime cycle simulation system» by Polina Rozhitskaya allows to regulate and change the workspace lighting spectre, simulate the “normal” day and night, in order to create optimal conditions for increasing the work performance or making rest more comfortable, based on physiological characteristics of an office worker.

Alexander Filatov made a “Cargo monitoring system”, which is oriented on keeping the cargo itself safe, not only the container. Applying such technology will help to ease the controversial situations between the delivery company and the customer, related to cargo’s preservation.

 

The project by Vyacheslav Starovoytov and Kirill Komarov “Remote control and monitoring of water pumps” was created to help establish the water supply of remote villages with unstable cell signal by distant control of the pumps on water stations.

All the teams got ready for the RIW exhibition under the guidance of Andrey Zuev, the director of MIREA IT Institute.

Samsung IoT Academy is corporate long-term social program designed for the development of digital economy in Russia. Its goal is to create competence centers in the field of IoT and AI Data Analysis on the basis of leading technical universities. The pilot project was launched in 2017 on the basis of two influential Russian technological universities, Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation (MIREA) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). With Samsung’s support, starting from October 2018, training programs in the field of industrial Internet of Things are launched in 10 higher education institutions in Russia, including St. Petersburg, Siberia, Tatarstan, the Urals and Yakutia.

Samsung IoT Academy project expands the company’s activities in the field of technical education, which is represented by a program for high school students «SAMSUNG IT SCHOOL» since 2015.

Samsung IoT Academy project received the «Best Russian Social Projects» award in the «Science and Education» category. The project was also named the winner in the «Social lift» nomination, which recognizes the best system opportunities for career development, technologies for talent management and formation of soft skills.
