“Call Me a Young Innovator»

In Russia, there is an app called «Enliven». When you open this app, you receive a score and then you can save the planet.

But how, you ask? The app teaches its users how to be environmentally responsible. Turning environmentalism into a game motivates users to protect nature and learn more about healthy lifestyles, as well as about methods to improve the world’s ecological situation and how to protect the environment.

* The Android version of the app is already available for download on Google Play.

So, who are the makers of this app? Don’t be surprised. It was actually made by a student! LiVE would like to introduce you to the Young innovator, Vladislav Tarasov.

Vladislav said, «I am very happy that the fund has supported my project. I have not yet thought about how I will spend the prize money, but I will definitely use some of it to finish the app.»

«Rybakov Fund» awarded the young developer with a cash prize of 150 thousand rubles.

The «Young Innovators in Moscow» contest was held as part of the Moscow International Forum, «City of Education». The goal of the contest was to demonstrate the achievements of Moscow’s students to both the Russian and foreign educational community, and to attract the attention of businesses with regards to the development of entrepreneurship among young people.

The main requirement for participation in the competition was to have a working prototype of a high-tech project. The organizers of the competition had also specified that a competitive advantage would be given to social, educational and urban IT projects.

The jury included well-known figures in the fields of business and education, with representatives from Mail.ru, Skolkovo, FREI, the Moscow Department of Information Technologies, Lego Education, Casio, Microsoft and the Samsung Research Center.

Samsung IT School is a federal-level supplementary education program for high school students, which teaches the basics of IT and programming. The scheme started in 2014 and is being implemented with the support of regional educational authorities, with the aim of training 5,000 students in more than 20 Russian cities over a 5-year period. Participants of the program, mostly 9th and 10th grade students who are enthusiastic about modern technology, attend full-time classes twice a week in specially equipped classrooms located in selected educational institutions. Over the course of a year they pass 5 modules, starting with the fundamentals of Java programming and ending with the basics of backend development for mobile applications. They also present their final projects and, after successfully finishing the program, receive a certificate from Samsung. This certificate is considered by admission committees of leading universities as an individual achievement and gives additional points when enrolling in PFUR, MEI, Novosibirsk State Technical University, Southern Federal University, Baltic Federal University and more.

Sergey Pevnev, Head of Corporate and Government Relations at Samsung Electronics CIS, said, «We are very pleased to see the success of Samsung’s IT School graduates. The goal of our program is to help nurture a new generation of young people who can change the world through technology. This event proves that our educational program is starting to bear fruit. We offer Vladislav our sincere congratulations!»
