“The “IT SCHOOL chooses the strongest!” competition put together the most interesting projects from “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” students. We are happy to see an increase in the showcased projects` quality in comparison to the previous year, not only in terms of technologies, algorithms and program codes, but also in terms of the relevance of the ideas for the apps, as well as their designs,” said Sergey Pevnev, Head of Corporate Relations and Government Relations at Samsung Electronics CIS. “Today`s event proves that our educational program has resulted in helping the development of IT-education in various regions of Russia. It is also important for us that the program becomes even more popular among school children, and that the number of children who have successfully completed it is increasing”.

“I was very happy to be invited to chair the jury for the competition. I was especially glad to have been able to speak in front of young audience of kids who have been studying for a year within the “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” program. They put a lot of effort into developing software that will be useful for a lot of people. Today we saw an amazing presentation of what the program`s graduates have done. The geographical range of the participants is also worth noticing – from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad,“ said Mikhail Rychagov, President of the Jury, Samsung R&D Centre.

The event took place on July 8th in the co-working center, “Tochka kipeniya”, of the Strategic Initiatives Agency in the centre of Moscow.

A federal educational program of extra-curricular training on IT basics and programming for high school students, since 2014 “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” has been implemented with the support of regional education authorities, with the aim of educating 5000 school children in more than 20 Russian cities over 5 years. The framework of the program involves high school students who are interested in complex technologies attending on-site classes twice a week in specially equipped class rooms on the campuses of selected educational institutions. During the year they take 5 modules, from the basics of programming on Java to the basics of mobile app backend development. As well as this, they present their own projects and receive certificates from Samsung according to their results on the course. The certificates are considered by enrolment boards of leading technical universities as an individual achievement, and give candidates additional points when entering PFUR, NUST MISIS, Novosibirsk State Technical University, etc.

During its operation, the “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” received an award from the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Education and Science in the ‘Career guidance’ category at “Creating the future”, the Russian national competition of employers` best practices for working with children, young people and personnel reserve. The program has also joined the ranks of the best projects in the category ‘Education and science’ within the “Best social projects of Russia” national program.

Competition participants` testimonials

“I liked studying in “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” a lot and I am proud that I became a winner in “IT SCHOOL is looking for the best!”. The program gave me a lot of new and very useful theoretical and working knowledge, and has helped me to feel self-confident. As well as this, the project has served as additional motivation for me to go on to further development in the field of IT,” said Maxim Yatsenko, an “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” student from Rostov-on-Don.

“IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” was a very valuable experience for me. It`s an interesting and well-organized program that gives a great theoretical foundation as well as the opportunity to apply it practically. I`m happy that I completed the course and, of course, was able to successfully participate in the competition. Now I`m sure that I want to work professionally in IT,” said Donat Shergalis, an “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” student from Saint Petersburg.

“Of course, I loved studying in “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” as I was able to do things here that I could hardly imagine before, more specifically, develop my own mobile app that was evaluated highly by the expert jury of “IT SCHOOL is looking for the best!”. Furthermore, in the course of the program I met a lot of like-minded people, new friends and talented teachers, and I am sure that communication with them will be useful for me in the future,” said Vladimir Shperling, an “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” student from Novosibirsk.

“IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” is a very good course. It`s divided into modules so educational material is allocated seamlessly. Some kids who studied with me had already tried programming before, but the skills gained from this year alone were enough to achieve some great results as well. The most important thing is to be motivated by the teachers,” said Emil Khayrullin, an “IT SCHOOL SAMSUNG” student from Ufa.
